BID Commissions Tiered Parking Study for Church Street Lot

Study will cost $6,000.

The Patchogue Businesss Improvement District (BID) unanimously voted Wednesday to begin a feasibility study to explore the possibility of placing a tiered parking structure in the Church Street parking lot in Patchogue Village.

The board will hire outside consultants for the study, which will cost approximately $6,000 from the BID’s budget.

BID member Joel Peck said that creating the plans will allow the village to prepare for a potential parking shortage when the to in the location of the vacated Swezey’s department store is built.

“We are trying to put together a feasibility study so there are specific sites, budget and plans so when Tritec goes up we have the studies done,” Peck said.

Peck said that upon completion of the study the board will receive drawings, analysis and circulation information that will determine whether a tiered parking structure will be possible. Peck was also clear to say that this is not financing a project, but simply taking initiative on it
