Calarco To Run For County Legislature

Long-time chief-of-staff to Legis. Jack Eddington will seek the Democratic nomination for the 7th LD.

Rob Calarco, D-Patchogue, officially announced his candidacy for the Suffolk County Legislature’s 7th District.

“I’m letting everyone know that I am fully intending to run for the 7th legislative seat," Calarco said in an interview with Patch. "I’m going to put forth my full effort and feel I still have a lot to give to the community."

Calarco originally announced his intention to run for the seat on the county legislature when incumbent legislator Jack Eddington, D-Patchogue, . Calarco has worked as Eddington’s chief-of-staff since 2006, Eddington's first year on the legislature.

In the fall of 2010, Calarco unsuccessfully Dean Murray, R-Patchogue, for the 3rd district state assembly seat.

Calarco is currently the only known candidate from the Democratic party making a bid for the seat. He said he anticipates receiving the Democratic endorsement when the party's nominating convention meets on May 18.

The Suffolk County Republican party has yet to officially announced a candidate, but David Perry and John Giannott are among those being considered for the nomination, a Republican party official said.

An official candidate is expected to be announced at the GOP's convention on May 24.

Your barking dog complaint in North Patchogue is handled by Public Safety, Town of Broohaven. CallRead More them at 451-6161 and they will take action. The first time the owners will be warned, the next time they will receive a summons.

Don't know what the Town ordnance is, but if you live within the Village of Patchogue, I believeRead More there is a "15 minute rule" in the code. Basically, if the dog is barking for more than 15 continuous minutes, it's a violation subject to a fine. Call public safety at 475-1225. Keep in mind it's probably not their first priority (unless the dog has a bad attitude, and is carrying a weapon), but they will be responsive, eventually.
