The department recommends that children and pregnant women should take care to avoid exposure when practical. If possible, stay inside or avoid the area whenever spraying takes place and for 30 minutes after spraying. Close windows, doors and the vents of window air-conditioning units before spraying begins or turn them off. They can be re-opened 30 minutes after spraying.

Should one come into contact with the spray, protect the eyes. If pesticide gets in the eye, immediately rinse with water. One should also wash exposed skin, and exposed clothing separately from other laundry. It is also recommend to pick homegrown fruits and vegetables before spraying, and to bring in any laundry, toys or other ornaments.
