The Republican Senator takes his oath in front of supporters, family and friends.

Lee Zeldin officially added Senator to his title when he was sworn in on Tuesday after being  in New York's Third Senate District.

Zeldin's supporters took two chartered buses to travel to the State Capitol in Albany to be a part of the ceremonies, which was done at no cost to the taxpayers.

"I'm gratified that so many of my friends and supporters made the trip. My election victory belongs to them as much as it does to me," said Zeldin (R,C, I – Shirley). "Their overwhelming support for my message will be a tremendous source of strength and resolve as we begin the difficult challenge of reforming New York State. "The voters have made clear that they want a new direction for New York State," said Zeldin. "I'm determined to change the way Albany does business and restore a state government that will make us proud. The voters want tax relief, spending control and reform. They'll support elected officials who deliver, and I am confident I will."

Zeldin has been working since he was elected to make a smooth transition for residents in his district.

"I'm excited to officially get started," he said. "[My constituents] will have no doubt that I am here in Albany to represent them, to fight for their best interests. My offices are open and running, I'm ready, my staff is ready, we've got our sleeves rolled up and we're already hard at work."
