Mazzei To Continue As 5th District Brookhaven Councilman

Incumbent candidate wins 65.53 percent of Tuesday's vote.

Incumbent Timothy Mazzei, R-Blue Point, is keeping his seat as Brookhaven councilman for the fifth district, after winning 65.53 percent of Tuesday's vote over challenging candidate Michael Miller, D-Blue Point, according to Suffolk Board of Elections.

Miller earned 34.42 percent of the vote, and there were three write-in ballots.

Mazzei had 6,282 votes as of Tuesday night’s count, and Miller had 3,300. Results are not yet official as absentee ballots are to be counted.

The fifth district includes areas of Patchogue, Medford, Blue Point, Holbrook, Holtsville, Ronkonkoma, Lake Ronkonkoma and Farmingville.
