Monday's Patchogue Village Board Agenda

The Village Board meets at 6 p.m. Monday.

The Patchogue Village Board of Trustees meets Monday at Village Hall on Baker Street.

Board meetings now begin at 6 p.m. after the board passed a resolution in November to move the meeting time from 7:30 p.m. Mayor Paul Pontieri said at the time that the goal of the earlier meeting time was to attract more residents to meetings, which usually attract no more than dozen people if there's no major issue on the agenda.

Monday at 6 p.m. the Patchogue Village Board of Trustees will be meeting at its new time. A review of the agenda for the meeting indicates that the major issue of the night will be the first steps to changing building height requirements for new buildings in the E industrial district. Little information is known at present about why this resolution is being offered. But this is not unusual. Trustee Ferb will introduce the resolution and would be normally expected to do so with a verbal narrative about the reasons that the resolution is being presented. It will not be voted upon at the meeting. But there will be a vote to hold a public hearing soon. After that, depending on the wishes of the Board, a vote on the resolution will occur. For those not used to attending meetings as a member of the public the followiing is the usual course of business: payment of bills, various resolutions relating to village business offered by the Mayor and other Board members for approval. Some reports are made too. Sometimes there are last minute resolutions or unexpected discussions about issues that may be of concern in the village so the agenda is not the complete guide to the events at any meeting. At the end of the formal business of the Board members of the public may then address the Board about individual concerns. This meeting is occuring at a new time in the hope that the earlier start time for the meeting will encourage more public participation during the public portion.
