Patchogue Teacher Honored By Village

Salvatore Nicosia received a proclamation from Patchogue Village.

Patchogue teacher Salvatore Nicosia was honored at Tuesday's Patchogue Village Board of Trustees meeting at .

Nicosia said he started teaching seventh-grade citizenship education in 1956, and had Patchogue Village Mayor Paul Pontieri as a student.

Now 84, Nicosia said at the meeting he is on a mission to get people to re-examine the core values of society, and throughout was citing a need to improve the current education system.
