Pesticide Spraying Tuesday Over Davis Park Area

Vector spraying will take place from 6 p.m.-10 p.m

Pesticide spraying is scheduled in Davis Park and Point O'Woods on Fire Island Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. announced the Suffolk County Department of Health Services.

The spraying, which is being conducted by the Suffolk County Department of Public Works, is intended to control the growth of vectors, which are similar to mosquitoes.

Ground spraying of the Anvil (sumithrin) pesticide is taking place in all streets in the Villages.

The department recommends staying indoors up to 30 minutes after the spraying has completed. Doors, windows and air conditioning vents should be shut during the spraying as well. If one gets into contact with the pesticide, protect the eyes. Immediately wash affected areas with water, and wash affected clothing in a separate laundry load.

The department also recommends picking homegrown fruits and vegetables, as well as any items that may be outside.
