Play For Peace Soccer Tournament Saturday

Fourth annual tournament, proceeds going to Patchogue-Medford Library.

The fourth annual Play For Peace soccer tournament is taking place at Patchogue-Medford Youth Soccer League Complex in Medford on Saturday.

The soccer tournament, which began while former Legislator Jack Eddington was in office and is continuing with current Leg. Rob Calarco, was originally organized following the 2008 murder of Marcelo Lucero in an effort to bring diverse community members together in sport.

Now in its fourth year, the tournament will feature 10 men's and four women's teams competing for the cup.

Opening ceremonies will take place at 9:30 a.m., and the games will begin at 10 a.m. Sponsors include Gershow Recycling, Tritec Real Estate Company and .

The soccer league complex is located on Sipp Avenue off of Woodside Avenue.
