Railroad Avenue Now One-Way Between Main, South

Crosswalk will also be installed across Railroad Avenue.

Motorists take note: Railroad Avenue is now a one-way street between Main Street and South Street in Patchogue Village.

The Patchogue Village Board approved a resolution last month making it one-way in the southbound direction, but Hurricane Sandy delayed the installation of signage on the roadway. Those signs are now going up, Village Trustee Joseph Keyes told Patch Tuesday.

Suffolk Police had asked the Village to consider making the road one-way. Keyes said the move is "an attempt to ease the traffic congestion caused by the overwhelming success of The Emporium."

A pedestrian crosswalk will also be installed in the near future from the east side to the west side of Railroad to "safely accommodate" those using the courthouse parking lot, Keyes said.
