Press conference taking place at 3:45 p.m. inside of the store.

U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand will be visiting in Patchogue Village Friday afternoon to announce legislation to extend tax breaks for small businesses.

Store owner Carol Reitz-Butler said that an aide from Gillibrand's office contacted her Wednesday for the event.

"She called me and also sent me a copy of what the legislation is to make sure that I understood it and agreed with it," Reitz-Butler told Patch Thursday afternoon.

According to a release from the Democrat's New York office, the legislation concerns extending several small business tax cut provisions that expired at the beginning of the year.

The conference will take place within the store, and the business will stay in operation Friday afternoon. Reitz-Butler was happy that the event will bring more awareness of her business.
