Terry Street Becomes One-Way, Gets Parking

Cars will no longer turn onto South Ocean Avenue from Terry.

The section of Terry Street from South Ocean Avenue through Taylor Lane now only accepts vehicle traffic eastbound instead of being a two-way street.

Additionally, parking spaces will be added to Terry Street and Taylor Lane.

The rest of Terry Street east of Taylor Lane will remain open for two-way traffic.

In a blue print shown to Patch by village trustee Joseph Keyes, approximately 15 parking spaces are being placed in front of the building, with additional parking for the section of Terry Street east of Taylor Lane as well as along Taylor Lane.

One-way signs showing the change and parking space lines have been placed on the street by the Village reflecting the change.

The change was approved at the , and has come into effect earlier this week.

At that meeting, Patchogue Village Mayor Paul Pontieri said that the change would address as well as create additional parking spaces.

Among the safety concerns cited, Gail Hoag of the mentioned at the meeting that at least two vehicles have ran the intersection and up the steps of the on South Ocean Avenue. No injuries were reported as no one was on the steps during either incident she said.
