School Supplies Needed For Children in our Community

As summer draws to a close, the new school year is quickly approaching for children in our community. However, some children don’t have the school supplies or clothing items that they will need for the upcoming school year. That is why I am proud to support the Long Island Coalition for the Homeless’s “Backpack Pirates” program, a program designed to collect donations of new school supplies and clothing items for children who need them in our community.

The Long Island Coalition for the Homeless, through a partnership with Holiday Magic and Every Child’s Dream, will distribute backpacks and school supplies for more than 1,000 children in need on Long Island. Greta Guarton, executive director of the Long Island Coalition for the Homeless has said, “The need for assistance is growing each year. We are grateful to members of the community who come together to help our less fortunate neighbors. These school supplies will help hundreds of children go back to school with the tools they need to succeed.”

I am hoping that members of our community will help the children and donate school supplies and new clothing items. I have set up a drop-off box in my office, where I will be accepting donations until August 27th.  Your donation will help these children go back to school this year more prepared and confident, knowing they have what they need to succeed.
