Patchogue-Medford School Board of Education candidate, Christine Rignola, is running for the seat currently held by incumbent Brett Houdek.
Rignola has been Patchogue resident for 15 years and is a mother of two. Her daughter graduated in 2009; her son is still in High School. She has been a substitute teacher in the district since 2004. Rignola is also an active volunteer and has helped coach a variety of sports.
This election marks her first run for the Board.

"I want to run because I really care about the kids. I love being with them; I love making a difference in their lives. It is very rewarding. We have great teachers, great volunteers, the PTAs do a lot for the community. Everyone just needs to pull together and create a little bit more unity and enthusiasm," said Rignola.
