Meet the Author: Douglas Brode

Douglas Brode is a novelist, graphic novelist, screenwriter, playwright, award-winning film/TV historian and multi-award-winning working journalist. He has also worked as a radio announcer, drama critic, TV talk show host, and regional theatre actor. His 37 books in print have been translated into many other languages and published worldwide. He teaches fall semesters at Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications and in the winter at University of Texas, San Antonio.

Mr. Brode will discuss the process of how a small-town boy from Patchogue fulfilled his dream of becoming a professional writer. He will also talk about the recently won respect of ‘graphic novels’ (formerly known as comic books) and the role that they have played in his life. Mr. Brode will explain the creation of his own first graphic novel, “Yellow Rose of Texas,” and his collaboration with artist Joe Orsak on a series of other upcoming volumes. Following the presentation and discussion, he will sign copies of his books for anyone interested in purchasing them.
