Medford Elementary Teacher to Receive Helen Bach Moss Award

Lauren Friel is the second Medford Elementary teacher to receive award.

Lauren Friel, a teacher at , will receive the Helen Bach Moss Memorial Better Beginnings Award on Thursday, the Patchogue-Medford School District announced. 

Friel will receive the award during a ceremony at the school at 10 a.m.

The award recognizes elementary teachers who are gifted in finding and nurturing the strengths of their students, as well as fostering relationships among parents, teachers and administrators.

She is the second Medford Elementary School teacher to receive the award; the first being Stephanie Ida in 2008.

Friel was chosen among other nominated elementary school teachers in New York state.

The award, which has been given since 1992, honors Moss, a New York State educator who died in 1988.
