New Super, Board Members Sworn In

The Patchogue-Medford school board taps a new president, vice president and treasurer.

The Patchogue-Medford school board on Thursday night swore in a slate of new members, including new Superintendent Michael Locantore.

Locantore has replaced the retiring Michael Mostow.

At the meeting, Donald Atkins was sworn in as a board member replacing former member Michael Miles. Also, Thomas Donofrio, who was re-elected to the board in the last school election to serve another term, was unanimously elected board president, replacing board member Brett Houdek.

Joseph Loria, a rising senior at Patchogue-Medford High School, was sworn in as the ex-officio student board member.

The board also elected Patty Felice district treasurer, while Anthony Russo and Houdek were elected to work on the district's audit committee.

The only contested appointment came when Anthony O'Brien was named vice president in a 6-1 vote. Board member William Lavelle opposed.

The next public board meeting will be held in the Patchogue-Medford High School auditorium on July 12 at 6:30 p.m. for executive session and 7:30 p.m. for public session.
