Pat-Med's Matt Vogel Selected as Best Baseball Player in New York

National website taps Raiders pitcher as tops in the state.

Patchogue-Medford High School senior Matt Vogel has been selected by MaxPreps.com as the top high school baseball player in New York.

Vogel has committed to the University of South Carolina, but his name appears on many lists of the top prospects for the 2013 Major League Baseball Draft.

Here's what MaxPreps wrote about the Medford resident in selecting him the best player in New York:

The nation's top pitching prospect, Vogel played for Team USA 16U as a sophomore [where he won his second gold medal]. He was a fifth team All-State player as a junior after earning fourth team honors as a sophomore. He has hit 90-91 mph on his fastball.

Way to go Matthew! You should be very proud of yourself. I remember your smiling face in fourth grade at Canaan. I can't believe you are going off to college already! Enjoy every minute of it!
