Pat-Med School Board Race Deadline Extended

Potential candidates have until May 4 to contest the seat of Brett Houdek. Joseph LoSchiavo will run unopposed.

Due to the withdrawal of a candidate, applications to run for the Patchogue-Medford School District Board of Education will be accepted until May 4.

The original deadline was Monday, but pursuant to state law the district must allow 15 more days to allow other potential candidates to join the race said school district clerk Dennis Logan.

Of the two seats up for election this year, board member Joseph LoSchiavo is confirmed to be running unopposed. The seat currently occupied by board member Brett Houdek is still in contest by anyone who submits a nominating petition by the deadline to the district clerk’s office.

The Board of Education’s next meeting will be held at South Ocean Middle School on Monday at 6:30 p.m. to enter into a closed executive session with public session starting at 7:30 p.m. The upcoming vote for both the 2011-2012 budget and for the school board will take place on May 17.
