Pat-Med Students Donate 5,000 Pounds of Food

School district donated more to Island Harvest than other Long Island school districts participating in the organization's challenge.

teachers Lauren Stolworthy, Kevin Ray and Audra Murphy helped students donate 5,000 pounds of food to Island Harvest this past winter announced Lucille Martir, assistant principal at the high school.

Additionally, the Patchogue-Medford School District donated the largest amount of food out of all the other Long Island school districts that participated in the 011 Fall Students Feeding Students Challenge.

According to Island Harvest's Facebook page, Smithtown High West came in second with 2,725 pounds, followed by New Hyde Park with 2,600 pounds.

The organization received a total of 22,992 pounds of food island-wide through the challenge.
