Pat-Med 2013-2014 Budget Vote, BOE Election Tuesday

Roundup of all of the budget and trustee election coverage so far. Check back to Patch for breaking results.

The proposed $167 million 2013-2014 Patchogue-Medford school budget and two Board of Education trustee seats are up for vote Tuesday.

The district's budget brochure can be downloaded from their website by clicking here, and all of Patch's coverage so far can be reviewed below for fast access. It is divided between budget information and Board of Education trustee election information. Unlike in previous years, the trustee election is "at-large" meaning the top-two vote getters out of three will win the spots.

The budget is a 2.77 percent increase, and a tax levy increase of around $3 million or 3.17 percent. The proposed budget contains no staff decreases and affords the replacement of Patchogue-Medford High School's track for safety concerns. Teachers are going on a wage freeze for the entire 2013-2014 school year.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m.-9 p.m. at South Ocean Middle School, Medford Elementary School, Saxton Middle School, Tremont Elementary School and Eagle Elementary School. Results will be announced at Saxton Middle School, 121 Saxton Street in Patchogue, at 9:30 p.m.

Check back to Patch for results, which we will be posting as soon as we get them. In the meantime, post your thoughts in the comments section below.
