PMHS Graduation Postponed to Saturday at 11 AM

Inclement weather postpones the ceremony.

The Class of 2012 will have to wait until Saturday morning at 11 a.m. to get their diplomas at , as inclement weather is postponing the graduation ceremony from its originally scheduled Friday at 6 p.m. timeslot.

Superintendent Michael Locantore sent out an alert to parents about the delay Friday afternoon, citing the National Weather Service's severe thunderstorm watch which is in effect until 9 p.m. Friday.

As a result, most students should now expect to report to their graduation room assignments by 9:45 a.m. on Saturday.

A parent sent Patch the email alert, and the text from it is below:

This is a message from Mr. Locantore, Superintendent of Schools of the Patchogue-Medford School District. The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch which is effect until 9:00 p.m. this evening. Since there is a possibility for some very severe weather, this evening’s graduation ceremony at the Patchogue-Medford High School will be postponed until tomorrow, Saturday, June 23 at 11:00 a.m.

Due to this change the following timetable will be in effect:

• All graduation group leaders should be in their assigned room by 9:30 a.m.
• All graduating seniors should be in their assigned room by 9:45 a.m.
• All students in the band should be in the band room by 10:00 a.m.
• All attendees requiring assistance should report to the south side of the high school for transportation to the field at 10:00 a.m.
• Graduation will begin promptly at 11:00 a.m.

We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause but feel that the safety of our attendees is of utmost importance.
