PMHS Senior to Compete for Coca-Cola Scholarship

Saad Amer is one of 252 high school seniors selected to compete for up to $20,000 in scholarship money.

Saad Amer, a senior at , is heading to Atlanta, GA in April as one of the 252 students selected as the 2012 Class of Coca-Cola Scholars.

Amer will travel to Coca-Cola's international headquarters to compete for 52 scholarships worth $20,000 and 200 scholarships worth $10,000.

Amer previously was involved in making the video that his junior year AP Environmental Science class used to showcase a water-testing project in the Samsung Solve For Tomorrow competition, placing the high school in the .

Amer's application was selected from a pool of 84,000 applicants and 2,200 semifinalists.

Amer and the other finalists will interview with a National Selection Committee, tour the city's landmarks and attend a scholar's banquet among other activities.
