PMHS Students Win RIT Computing Medals

Four juniors are receiving computing awards from the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT).

Michael McGinnis, Ryan Rogers, Anne Porfido and Rita Wehrli were recently notified that they are recipients of the RIT Computing Medal.

The award honors their accomplishments as a student, as a member of the school community and their computing abilities. Computing Medal recipients who are admitted to RIT are guaranteed to receive a scholarship of $6,000 per year.

In addition the Scholarship Committee determines eligibility for other merit scholarships. Merit scholarships are offered regardless of financial need and may be combined with otherscholarships or grants up to the full amount of tuition each year.

All of these students have taken Computer Science Courses at PMHS for many years. They have taken Robotics and Beginning Programming, Web Design and Programming in Java and AP Computer Science.

Senior year they will all take Honors Computer Science. Their teachers at the high school are Kathy Bucaria and Cindy Moshman.
