Police Make Arrest in Bomb Threat Case

The 18-year-old suspect is charged with falsely reporting an incident.

UPDATE:  Patchogue-Medford Schools just issued the following update to parents of students via email and a phone call on today's arrest and events:

"Today a student who attends Patchogue-Medford High School was arrested by the Suffolk County Police Department for making unfounded threats against the school, which is a Class E felony. The school district administration has been informed that more arrests are imminent. The resolution of this matter was due in great part to the information supplied by students working in harmony with the administration, faculty, and staff at the high school, working with the police department. The information supplied may lead to a reward for the informants. The district would like to thank the students and their families for their patience and understanding while this series of unnecessary events was investigated. Additionally, the fire alarm at the high school this morning was due to a cooking problem and no students were in danger at any time. Again, thank you for this great community effort."

Suffolk County Police arrested an 18-year-old suspect today at 2:30 p.m. for making a bomb threat Monday at Patchogue-Medford High School. He has been charged with Falsely Reporting an Incident -1st Degree.
