Rignola to Run Against Houdek for BOE Seat

School officials announced that Christine Rignola will contest Brett Houdek's Board of Education seat.

A new candidate has entered the Patchogue-Medford school district’s board of education race to contest the open seat currently held by board member Brett Houdek.

Christine Rignola will run against Houdek for the three-year term school officials announced Thursday.

The original deadline to submit was extended to Wednesday on April 19 due to the late withdrawal of a candidate.

As previously reported, the other open seat currently held by Joseph LoSchiavo is unopposed, and he will continue in the position for the next term.

The upcoming vote for both the 2011-2012 budget and for the school board will take place on May 17.
