Security Heightened Day After Bomb Threats

Pat-Med High School is in lockdown mode.

After two bomb threats were made against Patchogue-Medford High School Monday, the school is currently in lockdown mode, which means that all lockers are off limits and students are checked as they enter the building. The lockers were searched by police and are not to be opened by the students.

After the first bomb threat yesterday morning during third period, the school was evacuated and searched by police. After approximately an hour, students were let back into the building.

The second threat came in during seventh period and students were again evacuated and the building was searched by police, which took approximately 20 minutes.

This is the fourth bomb threat against the high school in the last two weeks.

According to Fred McKenna, administrative assistant to the superintendent, the Suffolk County Police Department is offering a $1,000 reward. Students, parents and staff members with information about the incident are being asked to contact Principal Randy Rusielewicz at 687-6500 or the TELL Hotline at 687-TELL (687-8355).
