The Golden Eagles were stunned Wednesday night by No. 8 NYU at the Danzi Athletic Center, losing 107-93 in the quarterfinals.

After being selected as the No. 1 seed for the ECAC Division III Metro Basketball Championship Tournament, the Golden Eagles seemed poised to make a substantial run.

That was until NYU decided not to miss a basket the entire night.

NYU shot 60 percent in matchup and an astounding 76 percent in the first half, propelling them to the semifinals against Rutgers.

Juniors Steve Velazquez and Chris Jimenez combined for 43 points in defeat.

Skyline Honors for several Golden Eagles

Jimenez and teammate Oliver Laurent were named to the 2011 Skyline First-team All-Conference team, while Amanda Bender of the women's team received second-team honors.

Jimenez (435) and Laurent (492) were SJC's leading scorers, while Bender led the women's team in points (258) and blocks (21).

Men's Baseball Returns

The SJC men’s baseball team took the field for the first time this season, participating in the Farmingdale State Tournament this weekend.

The Golden Eagles had a less than stellar start to the campaign, dropping the first two games to Keene State, 7-1 and to Cortland State, 14-4. The men round out the tournament against RPI on Sunday.
