Patchogue-Medford's Varsity Baseball loses 6-3 to William Floyd

Pat-Med ends their regular season with a game and series loss vs William Floyd.

The Patchogue-Medford Raiders Varsity Baseball team finishes their regular season with a loss. However, it wasn't without enthusiasm or emotion.

From the beginning pitch, tension was rising between the Raiders and the William Floyd Colonials, who were on their home turf. The umpires were involved in that too, of course, as the Raider Joe Pasqualino was ejected from the game after the first at-bat for arguing his strikeout. "Those were low strikes" he said. The strikeout came courtesy of William Floyd's pitcher, number 27, who struck out 10 in a complete-game performance. It also prompted a large coach-umpire argument that delayed the game for five minutes.

The Colonials started the scoring with 2 runs in the first inning to lead 2-0 off an RBI double and RBI single. However, the Raiders came back in the second inning to cut the lead in half with an RBI single by Kyle Wilson who finished with two hits, the most on the team.

Raiders' starting pitcher Danny D'Onofrio pitched for two and 2/3rds innings, giving up five runs on five hits, with four walks and two strikeouts. His presence wasn't strong on the mound as he allowed the Colonials to easily advocate their home field advantage by scoring 5 of their 6 runs in the first three innings of the game, cruising them to a 6-3 victory over Pat-Med's varsity squad.

Raider Tyler Moston smoked a 330-foot home run over the wall, a two-run shot that again cut William Floyd's lead in half, however, that's where it would stay on this windy afternoon.

The win also marked a winning series for William Floyd as they won two of the three games between the two clubs in the past three days.
