Raiders Notebook: Field Hockey, Soccer Stumble

Week of Sept. 18-Sept. 25.

Football: Patchogue-Medford's attempt to spoil Longwood's homecoming didn't quite go as planned. Danny Farrell threw two early touchdown passes and the Longwood defense quelled any chance of a Raiders comeback en route to an easy 33-6 victory. Patchogue-Medford now sits at 0-3 and will travel to face Commack next Saturday at 1.

Boys Soccer: The Raiders, unable to find much offensive success on the soccer field either, were shut out in three games this week. After falling at Sachem East, 2-0, and at home against Ward Melville, 1-0, they were defeated by the defending Class AA state champion Brentwood, 2-0 on Saturday. Zach Roselli made 13 saves against Brentwood in the loss.

Girls Soccer: The girls soccer team suffered a similar fate this week, dropping a pair of games without finding the back of the net. On Monday, the girls dropped a 1-0 decision at home to Commack before getting throttled on the road at Longwood on Wednesday, 5-0. They'll play games in consecutive days on Monday and Tuesday due to games rescheduled from last week, when they'll travel to Ward Melville and Brentwood.

Field Hockey: In keeping with the lack of offense, the Lady Raiders were also shut out in two contests this week. After falling to Connetquot on Monday, 3-0, they were defeated on Wednesday by Lindenhurst, by the same score. They too will play games on consecutive days on Monday and Tuesday due to this week's rain. On Monday, they'll host North Babylon, and on Tuesday, they'll travel to Babylon.
