Raiders Notebook: Soccer, Field Hockey Start Season

Week of September 12-19.

Football: After falling in their season opener at West Islip, the Raiders were again unable to move the ball with consistency on Saturday against Lindenhurst, David Fowler's two-yard touchdown run was all the offense Pat-Med could muster on Saturday, as they fell to 0-2. Next Saturday, they will travel to face 2-0 Longwood.

Boys Soccer: The boys soccer team opened 2011 with a 1-0 victory over Centereach in their only non-league game this season. They will kick off their League I schedule on Tuesday night under the lights at Sachem East.

Girls Soccer: The Lady Raiders also started 2011 on a good note, defeating Eastport/South Manor 4-2 in their only non-league game on the schedule. The girls will be looking to build on their 5-7-2 mark from a year ago. They started their league schedule on Monday at home with a 1-0 loss against Commack. The girls will next play at Longwood on Wednesday at 4 p.m. Check the for highlights from the team's recent senior night against Eastport/South Manor.

Field Hockey: After dropping their first two contests to Southampton and East Islip by a score of 4-0, the Lady Raiders won in penalty strokes at home against Copiague in their 2011 Division II opener. The team lost its Monday game against Connetquot, 3-0. Field hockey will next play at against Lindenhurst Wednesday at 4 p.m.
