Much like last week’s win over Sage College, SJC struggled to shoot proficiently in the first half against Bard, but was able to right their ship in the second.

The Eagles shot just over 48-percent from the floor in the second half—a large improvement from their dismal 21.9% shooting percentage in the first.

SJC sealed the game with six seconds left, when junior Olivier Laurent dropped a lay-up to give the Golden Eagles the lead.

Three’s Company

SJC easily moved by Yeshiva (4-11, 4-15) Tuesday night, 94-72. The Golden Eagles were led behind juniors Chris Jimenez and Steve Velazquez’ three-point prowess.

The duo combined for 39 of SJC’s 94 points via the three-pointer. Velazquez shot 6-for-11 from downtown as Jimenez went 7-for-14. Laurent also added 19 points, helping his team cruise to victory.

Jimenez continued with his hot hand from 3-land, dropping another eight 3-pointers in SJC’s 83-73 victory over Maritime on Thursday night.

Ouzounian Leads SJC to Third Place

Freshman swimmer Lauren Ouzounian snagged the Skyline Conference Co-Swimmer of the Year award Saturday, at the Skyline Conference Championships.

En route to her award, Ouzounian snapped two Skyline Conference records, as she posted a 1:04.28 in the 100-yard backstroke and a 2:19.09 in the 200-yard backstroke event. The Golden Eagles took third place at the championships behind Ouzounian’s record-breaking performance.

Women’s Basketball Dominates

The SJC women’s basketball put together its strongest effort of the season this past week, posting a three-game win streak.

The ladies dominated Bard, 63-37, Saturday afternoon, snapping for 44 points in the second half.

Their winning ways continued throughout the week, as they cruised by Yeshiva, 68-61; and New Rochelle, 76-41.

Purchase Loss Proving to be Crucial

Despite the three wins, the ladies are still behind Purchase by one game for the final playoff spot in the Skyline Conference. The Golden Eagles lost 79-7 in a crucial game to Purchase on Feb. 3.
