Winter Preview: Boys Track

An inside look at the Pat-Med boys winter track team

If there's one thing that the Patchogue-Medford boys winter track team can count on, it's balance. The squad has its ground covered—literally—in nearly every sect of competition this winter. Head coach Steve Cole feels confident that he should have a participant in every event that will be productive in the county.

Cole is in the process of cutting down his roster, as there are a lot of returning athletes as well as quite a number of new faces.

He'll need to rely on a veteran team with good balance to improve on last season's forgettable performance.

From the Athletes

Dan Gordon's take on PM's strengths: "We have a pretty good distant squad and few decent sprinters."

Corey Edmonds is optimistic for 2010-11: "Hopefully we have a good squad this year, a lot of guys came out, we'll see what happens."

Dioguardo's goals: "Our 4x8 is really good… we have to make sure everyone can run the 800 pretty well to all be even. I ran it last year, I'm usually a 400 guy, I need to get my strength up to run the 800, though."

Dan Weyant: "I think we're going to get better, we use to take a lot of points off because we didn't have a high jump, but now we're starting that."
