Beach Guide: Labor Day And Beyond

A look at which beaches are closing and which beaches are squeezing what's left out of summer.

With Labor Day Weekend comes time to knock over the lifeguard stands, pack away the umbrellas, and vacate the parking lot booths. So when are the beaches nearby closing? Here’s a look at some town and village beaches getting ready to wave goodbye to summer.

Brookhaven Town

  • Corey Beach in Blue Point will remain open until Thursday, September 5. Lifeguards will be on duty from 10 a.m to 6 p.m.

Islip Town

Most Islip Town beaches will be closed after Labor Day. Exceptions include:

  • Sayville Marina Beach: Open through Sunday, September 8 at 5 p.m.
  • Benjamin Beach: Open through Sunday, September 8 at 5 p.m.
  • Islip Beach: Open through Sunday, September 8 at 5 p.m.
  • Atlantique Beach: Open through Sunday, September 8 at 5 p.m.
  • Dunewood: Open Sep.5-8 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Kismet: Open Sep.5-8 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Fair Harbor: Open Sep.5-8 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Seaview: Open Sep.5-8 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Babylon Town

All Babylon Town beaches will close for the season after Labor Day, September 2. Lifeguards will climb down for the final time of summer 2013 at 6 p.m.

Suffolk County

Smith Point County Park will be closed for the season after Labor Day, September 2. Lifeguards will climb down for the final time of summer 2013 at 5:30 p.m.
