Pirate Ship Playground Coming to Shorefront Park

New equipment posted on Village Parks and Rec Facebook Page, Pirate Ship Coloring Contest inspired by playground theme also being held by department.

A pirate ship playground is coming to Patchogue Village's Shorefront Park.

The Village's Recreation and Parks Department's Facebook Page posted a cover photo of what is labeled "Shorefront Park Phase II," which includes pirate themed playground equipment.

The Facebook page states in a comment response that the ship is coming this summer.

The department along with the American Heart Association, is also holding a Pirate Ship coloring contest, in which the winner's drawing will be featured on a T-Shirt representing the Phase II playground equipment. The winner will also receive a free T-Shirt and take part in the ribbon cutting ceremony.

According to the contest's rules, it is open to children ages 5-16, must be in crayon and free hand. Winners will be judged for their creativity and announcement of the winner will be at the "Get Active Day" being held at the Patchogue YMCA at an as yet to be determined day and time. Entries must include name, address and phone number at the bottom of the drawing or on a separate piece of paper.

The Department's status lists the ribbon cutting ceremony, which would be the day the playground opens, to tentatively take place on June 1.

Those who wish to enter the contest must submit by mail to Patchogue Parks & Recreation Dept. 380 Bay Avenue, Patchogue NY, 11772 Attn: Maria Giustizia. Further information on the contest can be found by calling the Parks department at 631-475-4302.
