The Holiday Season Gets Going This Weekend in Patchogue

The Patchogue Holiday Season kicks in a big way this weekend!

To begin with, the Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce has joined with the Bellport Chamber of Commerce to help celebrate Small Business Saturday, November 30.

Falling in between days known as “Black Friday” and “Cyber Monday,” Small Business Saturday was started by American Express a few years back as a way to encourage holiday shoppers to stay local and support your downtown small businesses. To help celebrate this concept the Patchogue and Bellport Chambers are sponsoring a Trolley Service that will bring shoppers back and forth between Patchogue and Bellport, giving you an opportunity to shop in both communities between 12-5 PM Saturday. A Trolley will leave each community at the top of each hour during this period. The Patchogue Trolley Stop will be at the Parking Lot/Oak Street end of the Patchogue Theatre Walkway. The Bellport Trolley Stop will be located near Porters on the Lane and the Bellport/Brookhaven Historical Society at 31 Bellport Lane.

In both Villages there will be music and entertainment along the business districts to help you get in the holiday mood. Patchogue will be featuring the St. Joseph College Sharps Female Glee Club caroling all along Main Street and the Tri Valley Brass Band performing from 2-4 PM at Capital One Plaza. In Bellport, music will be provided all day by the Bellport School Choir and the Bellport Boys & Girls Club Steel Drum Ensemble. At 4:30 PM Bellport will present their famous Soup Contest amongst many of the great local restaurants.

Of Course, in both Patchogue and Bellport, many stores will have great specials and discounts for the day. All those ridding the Trolley will receive a special booklet highlighting the best holiday sales, as well as free gift shopping bag full of goodies and more discount specials. So my advice is avoid the craziness of shopping on Thanksgiving Night and Black Friday and shop ‘til you drop in Patchogue & Bellport on Small Business Saturday.

The Holiday fun continues Saturday evening, November 30 for the Annual Patchogue Christmas Parade on Main Street, starting at 6 PM. Make sure your children bring their letters for Santa, who certainly will be coming to Town that night. Immediately following the parade will be the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at Capital One Plaza.

The following evening, Sunday, December 1 at 5 PM will be the Annual Menorah Lighting Ceremony in celebration of Hanukah, also located at Capital One Bank Plaza on East Main Street.

So if you’re looking for a way to get in the Holiday Spirit, Patchogue is the place to be this weekend.
