Patchogue is Alive After Five
When many think of Long Island, they picture the typical American suburb: manicured lawns, identical houses and white picket fences. While this image is ideal to some, it truly is not inclusive of the diversity of environments our region has. From the rural landscapes of our picturesque East End, to the almost-urban areas like Great Neck, Long Island is more diverse than one might think.
In recent years there has been talk about revitalizing Long Island’s downtowns and creating walkable communities for Long Islanders. For years, our local downtown areas were struggling to find their niche, but now they are thriving with cultural centers, theaters and restaurants.
As a locally grown business, Teachers Federal Credit Union believes in Long Island’s downtowns, and the potential that each area has. One such area that has seen a rebirth is Patchogue, which in recent years has seen ample growth and a renewal of civic pride.

This renewal is personified in the Alive after Five street festival, being held this Thursday, July 11th, 25th, August 2nd and 8th from 5pm to 9pm. Street Festivals personify the rebirth of Long Island’s downtowns, with music, food, games. It is a special thing to have a street festival in the heart of suburbia- and what beats street festival food?
When you’re at the festival, be sure to stop by the TFCU table and say hello. Don’t forget to try your luck by spinning the prize wheel! Afterwards, take a walk around and look for TFCU’s soon-to-be-open branch in the heart of the downtown, right off of the corner from North Ocean Avenue and Main Street. We’re proud to help support Long Island’s centers of activity, and look forward to having a presence in the community.
