Fabulous Frozen Drinks Using Sharon's Sorbet

As I always say…”If you are a lone vegan in a sea of non-vegans, don’t assume that you’re not making some sort of impact on your non-vegan friends.” I prefer to believe that if you choose to “be the change” you want to see in the world, then others will eventually take notice and respect your change.

In my case, the change was my decision to become vegan. At first, I felt that my new lifestyle was met with more skepticism than support from my friends and family. Maybe it was my imagination. Who knows? Now that several years have passed, I am thrilled to report that more and more people in my life seem to have warmed up to the “V” word. As a result, I am noticing more and more supportive acknowledgments of my lifestyle choice with each passing day. I greatly appreciate each and every one.

Just the other day, my son, Alex, returned home from having dinner at a close friend’s house with this pint of Sharon’s Sorbet in the Raspberry flavor. I had never even heard of Sharon’s Sorbet before.

Alex told me that Rob (his close friend’s dad) had given him this pint of sorbet to take home for me to try. It just so happens that Rob and his wife, Pam, are two of my very close non-vegan friends (FYI, all of my friends in the neighborhood are non-vegans). So when Rob made a point to send Alex home with this delectable vegan dessert for me to try, I was thrilled. This may seem like a small gesture to you, but it was a greatly appreciated rare occurrence for me. What a nice show of support for my vegan lifestyle, don’t you think? Thank you, Rob!

In any event, before I sampled the goods I examined the packaging. The container clearly stated that Sharon’s Sorbet is vegan, dairy free, gluten free, casein free, GMO free and trans fat free. With my very first spoonful, I realized that this sorbet may be the best dessert find of my vegan life (with the exception of Dun-Well Doughnuts in Brooklyn!). I immediately texted Rob to ask him where he discovered it. He responded that this was his and Pam’s dessert of choice back in the days when they were Kosher. They haven’t seen it for years until the other day when they found it at North Shore Farms (a neighborhood market with locations in Port Washington and Sea Cliff, New York).
