Board Tackles Host of Issues

The link for the video of the May 13th meeting of the Patchogue Village Board of Trustees appears at the end of this blog. This is the most recent video taken in the ongoing series of videos that are being shared with village residents and other interested parties by the Citizens Campaign for Open Village Government. I am a member of that group. This group is composed entirely of village residents who feel that it is important to have a visual record of the board’s proceedings particularly since most residents can not get to board meetings scheduled as they now are for the late afternoon. Just as a reminder this video is not a professional work although we are learning from each and every one of the videos that are posted. With respect to this video please take note of this issue: at times there is some creaking sounds. That is a result of panning and a balky tripod that by the next video will be replaced. Otherwise sound quality is good as well as picture quality. Every video is reviewed prior to posting to make sure that there are no gaps in recording. The video that is posted is a complete and faithful recording of the full proceedings and is unedited. Below are time references to parts of the meeting that allow any viewer to go directly to those parts of this more than one and a half hour meeting for particular areas of interest. Before providing those references I wanted to say that while reviewing the video and fashioning a narrative I realized that this video represents one of the main goals of this project. While the meeting lacked any fireworks of any sort, or dramatic revelations, what it does show is what we always wanted to show: it’s a very rich display of the many things that are ongoing in the village to bring about the revitalization of Patchogue Village that is taking place day by day on many different levels. And yes at the end issues not addressed by the trustees, thanks to the public portion that does allow for uncensored citizen comment, also brought up pointing out areas of public concern that need to be addressed because and this should not shock anyone no village government is perfect. Also just for reference since at times the video does not offer a panoramic view (new camera coming that hopefully will) from left to right: Trustees Keyes, Crean, Ferb, Village Clerk Seal, Mayor Pontieri, Deputy Mayor Krieger, Trustees Devlin and Hilton, Village attorney Egan. Time references: At about 2 min Village Treasurer Krawczyk reports on funding for Carnegie library foundation and comments about Standard and Poor’s credit rating for the village. 7 min 41 seconds Mayor Pontieri introduces a resolution calling for a public hearing to determine zoning changes to permit the building of an assisted living facility on main street.
