Chili Contest Raises $600 for Shelters
Mercy Center Ministries hosts chili contest to benefit homes for troubled teens.
A chili contest held at Mickey Felice's Steakhouse on Sunday raised $600 for Mercy Center Ministries.
Fourteen chefs entered a chili and side dish in the competition. Both dishes were judged by 45 tasters, all of whom donated to Mercy Center Ministries for the role.
Mario's Famous Chili won first place in the contest, Tommykazi's Chili placed second and Chipotle Short Rib Chili nabbed third.
All proceeds went to Mercy's three homes for teens located in Patchogue, Blue Point and Sayville. The Patchogue shelter serves homeless and runaway females ages 16-21, and the Blue Point and Sayville homes house pregnant or parenting 16-21-year-old girls.
