Medford Man Runs LLS Campaign In Memory of Mother-In-Law

Campaign wraps up June 6.

A Medford man is running a campaign to fight blood cancer in memory of his mother-in-law who lost the fight to the disease.

Matthew Andrejkovics, a 1997 graduate of Patchogue-Medford High School, was recently nominated to run for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Man of the Year, which is a 10-week fundraising campaign. The goal, raise $50,000 for LLS from March 27 to June 6.

“I am running this campaign in memory of my mother-in-law, Joan Tsakanikas, who lost her battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia on October 8, 2011,” Andrejkovics wrote on his campaign website. “Joan’s encounter with Leukemia lasted just over two years and was a very painful experience for her entire family and everyone who knew her.”

Andrejkovics posted a campaign on Youtube about his mother-in-law’s story and about the campaign, which can be viewed in the media gallery.

Andrejkovics’s campaign website with donation information is http://www.manyforlls.com/.

An earlier version of this article incorrectly labeled Matthew Andrejkovics as his brother Michael Andrejkovics. This has been corrected.
