[VIDEO, PHOTOS] Vigil, Procession Mark Third Anniversary of Lucero Murder

Approximately 100 attended services dedicated to Marcelo Lucero and victims of hate crimes.

Residents remembered the third anniversary of the murder of Marcelo Lucero on Sunday at the St. Francis De Sales Church's parish hall.

Approximately 100 residents attended the ceremony, during which attendees were led in prayer and heard songs.

Lucero, an Ecuadorean immigrant, was stabbed near the Patchogue train station shortly before midnight on Nov. 8, 2008. A group of teenagers attacked Lucero, with one of them, Jeffrey Conroy, fatally stabbing the 37-year-old. Conroy was of manslaughter as a hate crime and is currently serving a 25-year prison sentence.

Following the ceremony Sunday, a procession headed to the location where Lucero was stabbed and roses were sprinkled.
