Patchogue Business Helping Boston Fundraiser

Hockey tournament supporting Boston Marathon victims taking place at The Rinx.

A Memorial Day hockey tournament to support those affected by the Boston Marathon bombing in April is being led in part by a Patchogue business manager.

Michael Governara, manager of Stevens 112 Ford is also president of the Suffolk County Hockey League. The league is holding #SkateForBoston, which is a day-long event at The Rinx, 660 Terry Road in Hauppauge, that is fundraising for the One Fund Boston, Inc. The fund was created to support those affected by the incident.

The games starts at 9 a.m. and runs throughout the day. Admission is $5 for adults and free for children under age 12. Simultaneously with the hockey tournament is an online auction also supporting the event at http://32auctions.com/SkateForBoston that will run from 9 a.m.-Midnight.

“We were all moved by the tragedy in Boston, and this is a great was for all Long Islanders to show we care and we want to help,” Governara said in a release. The Stevens 112 Ford business he manages is also listed as one of the event’s sponsors.
