Police Rescue Patchogue Woman From Swan Lake

Linda Hall is pulled from water Monday morning after her canoe tipped over, police say.

A Patchogue woman can thank two Fifth Precinct police officers for rescuing her from the waters of Swan Lake Monday morning. Linda Hall, 32, was canoeing on the East Patchogue Lake when the canoe tipped over and she fell in the water at 10:35 a.m., police said. Hall, who was not wearing a life jacket, managed to dial 911. When officers arrived, they could hear Hall screaming, but could not see her "due to the presence of thick reeds," police said. Officers Brian Loughlin and John Falcone went into the marsh and followed Hall's voice until they located her, police said.  Hall was then pulled from the water onto a marshy area. Crime Report: Fight At Restaurant, Assault

Police blotter reports in Patchogue and Medford on May 3.

The following information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions. Incidents:  An alleged altercation with an adult at a restaurant on Main Street in Patchogue was reported to police on May 3. An incident of assault in the third degree on River Avenue/Fordham Street in Patchogue was reported to police on May 3. An incident of harassment in the second degree involving an unknown man punching another person in a Silver Ford was reported on Route 112 in Medford on May 3. Police: Dunkin Donuts Robber Spotted in Medford

Crime duo arrested and charged following police chase that ended in Eastport.

Two people are under arrest and charged with attempting to rob a Dunkin Donuts in Blue Point Thursday night and one is also charged with robbing a Carvel in Bayport Wednesday evening, according to police. One of the two suspects were seen in Medford during the chase police say. A 911 call Thursday night reported a person acting suspiciously as they fled from Dunkin Donuts, on Montauk Highway, into the parking lot at approximately 9:40 p.m. When Fifth Precinct officers arrived on the scene they discovered that a person had just attempted to rob the store. One of two suspects was then apprehended by police and identified as Kerry Crosby, 22, of Farmingville. Crosby was charged with attempted robbery. Police say a box cutter was used in the …

E. Patchogue Man Charged With Armed Robbery of Holbrook Dunkin' Donuts

Ryan Trepiccione, 26, was arrested at his East Patchogue apartment on Tuesday, police say.

Police arrested an East Patchogue man on Tuesday and charged him in the armed robbery of a Holbrook Dunkin' Donuts last week. Ryan Trepiccione, 26, walked into the Dunkin' Donuts on Furrows Road last Thursday evening, approached an employee and displayed a handgun, police said. Trepiccione demanded money from the employee, who complied with the demand and Trepiccione fled the scene, police said. Trepiccione was arrested at his East Patchogue apartment at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, police said. Police did not say what led them to Trepiccione.  Trepiccione is charged with first degree robbery and is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday at First District Court in Central Islip.

Bellport Man Killed in E. Patchogue Crash

Driver of the car, an East Patchogue man, also treated for serious injuries, police said.

A Bellport man was killed and an East Patchogue man was seriously injured in a crash that took place early Saturday morning. According to police, Jasheem Trent was driving a 2006 Infiniti westbound on Montauk Highway when his vehicle crossed over the double yellow line, left the roadway and overturned. The crash took place just after 3 a.m. Trent’s passenger, Willie Davis, 24, of Bellport was pronounced dead at the scene. Trent, 21, was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries, police said. The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. According to police, the vehicle was apparently traveling at a high rate of speed and initial reports indicated that neither …

Report: Police, FBI Investigate Possible Raid on Maple Street

Police and FBI were on Maple Avenue Thursday reports News 12.

Police and FBI were parked along Maple Street in Medford Thursday for what News 12 reports was possibly a drug raid that occurred on a home along the street. Authorities have not confirmed what has happened, but a call Patch placed to Suffolk County Police Thursday afternoon was referred to the FBI's office. News 12 reports that the affected home is in between Southaven Avenue and East Woodside Avenue. Patch will update as more information becomes available. E. Patchogue Man Sentenced For Defrauding Grandfather

Michael Ostrowski will serve two years in prison and is forced to repay more than $85K to the IRS.

A federal court judge in Boston has sentenced an East Patchogue man to two years in prison and three years probation on various charges related to his fraudulent abuse of the court-appointed guardianship of his elderly grandfather. On Jan. 9, Michael Ostrowski, 42, pleaded guilty to various charges including conspiracy to commit mail fraud, mail fraud, interstate transportation of stolen property and failure to file an income tax return. Federal Court Judge Michael A. Ponsor ordered Ostrowski to pay restitution of $100,459 to MassHealth and more than $85,000 to the Internal Revenue Service. In addition, Ponsor also ordered the forfeiture of $179,500 in cash, a flat-panel television, a 39mm semi-automatic assault rifle and a 2006 GMC Sierra…

Two Patchogue residents and one Florida resident were convicted on April 20 by a federal jury of bank fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering as part of a mortgage fraud scheme announced Pamela Marsh, a US Attorney for the Northern District of Florida. Scott Smith, 48, and Paula Smith, 43, were the two Patchogue residents convicted along with Johnathon "David" Sanders, 50, of Santa Rosa Beach, FL. According to the Department of Justice, Scott and Paula Smith had Paula's brother, Louis Mazzella, 41 of Holbrook, purchase homes in Scott and Paula's names. Mortgage loans valued at $1.3 million and $1 million were fraudulently obtained for the purchase of the properties. Sanders involvement revolves around selling a property to the …
