Ballet in Cinema: Notre-Dame de Paris
From Teatro alla Scala
Inspired by Victor Hugo’s famous novel, the ballet “Notre-Dame de
Paris” returns to Teatro alla Scala Ballet after an absence of ten years. With music by Maurice Jarre, sets by René
Allio and renowned costumes by Yves Saint-Laurent, the ballet celebrates the
artistry of choreographer Roland Petit, who danced the Quasimodo role himself at the ballet's 1965 premiere. The ballet is a triumph of Petit’s vision
of performance as a total creation:
dance, sets, costumes, music theatricality. This thrilling production stars international
ballet icons Natalia Osipova and Roberto Bolle in the roles of Esmeralda and
the hunchback Quasimodo. Running time: 1
hr, 48 min.
WHEN: Sunday Aug 18, 2pm & Tuesday Aug 20, 6pm
