DA: Patchogue Sex Assault Suspect Indicted

A previously arrested Patchogue man suspected of allegedly sexually assaulting and robbing a 24-year-old woman in Patchogue Village has been indicted and has an upcoming September court date, Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota announced Wednesday.

According to the DA's office, Gary Grigg, 25, has been indicted on charges related to allegedly attacking the female victim around 3:15 a.m. on June 29 on West Main Street. Grigg was arrested on July 10, according to a DA's office statement to Newsday.

“Grigg has been indicted on one charge of criminal sexual act in the first degree and robbery in the second degree,” Spota said. “This was a vicious crime and the victim is suffering from both the trauma of the violence she endured, and from cuts, bruises, and a broken nose as she valiantly resisted.”

The DA also said that Grigg is currently on parole for a 2008 burglary.

Bail for Grigg is set at $500,000 by County Court Judge Barbara Kahn, and Grigg is next due in court Sept. 10.
