Pedestrian Struck, Killed in Patchogue

Accident occurred on Main Street early Sunday morning, police say.

A man walking along Main Street in Patchogue early Sunday morning was struck by a car and killed, according to Suffolk Police. 

Police say the pedestrian was walking just east of Bay Avenue at about 2:28 a.m. when he was hit by a 2001 Chevrolet, driven by Matthew Weber, 23, of East Patchogue. The pedestrian, whose name is being withheld pending notification of family, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

The investigation is continuing and police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
