Carnegie Library Groundbreaking Tuesday

Groundbreaking taking place Tuesday afternoon at the Sixth District Court.

A groundbreaking ceremony for the moving of the Carnegie Library onto its final location on the Sixth District Court property is taking place Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at the 150 W Main Street location in Patchogue, Patchogue Village Mayor Paul Pontieri told Patch.

Most of the library's movement happened in August 2012 from its former Lake Street location, but the library is now getting a permanent foundation on the court property.

As per the most recent Patchogue Village Board of Trustees meeting, SJ Hoerning Construction Inc. was awarded a $188,000 bid to build the foundation which will reportedley have the library face Main Street with the front even with the courthouse. Additionally, Patchogue-Medford Library has been reportedly interested in having a full basement built under the library to preserve its structural integrity, and will pay costs that are excess of Tritec's obligations for that addition.

Patch will be attending the ceremony, check back for photos.
