Patchogue Ambulance Company Receives $75K Federal Grant

The has some much needed funding coming its way.

New York Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand released a statement Thursday announcing that the ambulance service will receive $74,914 in funding through a Federal Emergency Management Administration’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant.

Patchogue Ambulance Company Director Paul Pearo said the grant would go a long way in outfitting the company with the latest technologies.

“We are deeply appreciative to the AFG program," Pearo said in a statement. "It will enable us to equip our dedicated EMS staff and volunteers with the most up to date biohazard protection."

“It will also support much needed upgrades to our radio systems, providing for greater regional interoperability, federal compliance and operational effectiveness," Pearo added. "We respond to over 2,500 calls per year and this grant will greatly benefit our staff and volunteers as well as the community we serve.”

The Patchogue Ambulance Company, founded in 1934, serves the Village of Patchogue, Blue Point and portions of East Patchogue.

“This investment will be a big help to the Patchogue Ambulance Company, better equipping our first responders to quickly and safely respond to emergencies,” Schumer said. “These funds will also guarantee that our local heroes will be able to purchase this equipment and improve their level of service to the community.”
