Partner John J. Roe III Named President of Patchogue Business Improvement District; Steps Down as Village Justice of Bellport Village
Bohemia, NY – July 31, 2012 – Management of regional growth and development often brings stress to the business and residential communities involved. Long Island has a number of regional development organizations that work to create plans that can help resolve and relieve challenges faced by communities as they grow. John J. Roe III, a partner with Roe Taroff Taitz & Portman, LLP, has returned to the helm of the Patchogue Business Improvement District (BID); a group that helps the Long Island municipality manage regional growth and development. Mr. Roe was instrumental in the development of the Patchogue BID and served as its first president more than 20 years ago.
“The need for continuing development, planning and foresight is important as the organization enters its twenty-first year. The members of the Patchogue BID will lend their assistance and ideas to the growth of the district as the community changes. I am pleased to return to the role of president”, said Mr. Roe.
Patchogue Village has been lauded as a downtown that has “gotten development right.” It has seen substantial growth and development of its business district in the last two decades with the addition of workforce housing, vast development of the waterfront and a new multimillion dollar anchor complex at the Four Corners of Main Street which recently broke ground.
Mr. Roe served the BID for 10 years during his first term as president. He is no stranger to longevity of service. He recently stepped down as Village Justice in Bellport Village where he lives. He ran unopposed for 12 consecutive four-year terms as Justice. During his tenure, he presided over misdemeanors, vehicle and traffic violations and local code matters in the Village Court.
